I'm an avid reader. I love to read about technology, history, real estate, and self-improvement. I recently came across a book written by a local Broker/Lawyer in my area titled "Finishing on Top: How to achieve personal goals, become successful, and experience happiness through the power of finishing by Sherman Toppin, ESQ.
In the book, the author makes mention of "Finishing Friends". He says that to achieve success you must climb a mountain and all your friends who are on the bottom of the mountain with you will think you are crazy once you start climbing. On your journey to the top of the mountain you will lose most of those friends who remain on the bottom of the mountain and for whatever reason choose not to climb up with you. They may not only wish to not climb with you, but you may see ugly traits that they have like, jealousy, selfishness, uselessness, and competitiveness. However, while you may lose those friends you will gain what he calls "Finishing Friends". Those friends are people that will support, encourage, motivate, donate, believe, and become extremely loyal-they will be there for you until you finish, no matter what.
When I was on the bottom of the mountain, I had friends that I no longer have since I decided to climb the mountain. I’m enjoying getting to know my finishing friends and I am appreciating the friends that decided to climb the mountain with me.
