The village of Mukwonago was originally a Native American village and the tribal seat of the Bear Clan of the Potawatomi Indians. Mukwonago came from the word “mequanego” which means bear’s den. The name changed to Mukwonago in 1844. Many of the streets and roads in Mukwonago are named after the founders of the village.

There are also bike trails leading to the Kettle Moraine Southern Unit, home of the Ice Age Trail. Helicopter rides and skydiving are also available for those who are looking for more adventure. During the winter, you can enjoy ice fishing and snowmobiling.
