Having the correct tools makes life easier in any profession. This of course is very true in Real Estate.
When we bought our home, we loved that there were three orange, one tangerine and one lemon tree in our back yard. Not wanting to sound uneducated, but I had no idea what it would take to take care and harvest the fruits.
I noticed that the lemon tree had a great many fruits that were dried out, shriveled on the tree. So, with common sense, I took our Fireplace poker and started to knock them down. It was a challenging project.
Finally called out an Arborist to help and he educated us on how to maintain the trees. I looked at his Ladder and had to invest one for ourselves. Clearly this was a step in the right direction. At least it made the fruit picking a lot easier.
Now keeping the ladder in the garage and moving it in and out for the harvest has been a hassle. The frequency has been limited because of the inconvenience as well as the lack of time available to harvesting the fruit. Diane would watch me and clearly did not feel comfortable about my safety. She suggested I should invest into a fruit picking tool.
So, once I invested into it clearly, I have eliminated the need for the ladder. Now the joke is, I have a Ladder virtually never used in mint condition😊! If you are looking for one, please let me know and we can negotiate a good price! Seriously it will be interesting to see when I will use the ladder again. My guess if I can not find a handyman to clean the gutters😊.
This of course reminded me of Real Estate. How many tools did you invest in your lifetime since you have been in this profession and it turned out, that you hardly used it? At the time it seemed like a great idea, but as time went on it became obsolete? Please share in your comments what some of those tools were?
Just to start out, I used to have a beeper on my belt, then I had one that was pen shaped that fit into my jacket. Clearly both have become obsolete. I even had the Motorola suitcase phone, that fit in the middle between the driver’s side and the passenger side, which I replaced with a large Motorola Flip phone, both have become not only obsolete, I wish I kept them, because they would be museum quality and probably worth some money😊!
Now certain tools I did not invest in such as Drone Video, instead I pay a professional to come and create my videos. Saved on the equipment, saved on the learning curve and they are done correctly the first time😊!
My sellers know I provide the knowledge and expertise how to sell their properties, and I have the resources that it takes to sell the property. It does not necessarily mean I possess the tools rather I know where to acquire the experts who know how to utilize the latest technology and tools.
