80% of success is showing up.
-Woody Allen
Today, while doing my dusting, I stopped to pay attention to a Certificate of Award my Mom received for perfect attendance in the year 1927. I figure she was 11 years old and probably in the 5th grade.
The certificate was awarded "for being neither tardy nor absent". Just a nice piece of history for me to hold on to.
This also reminded me of the time I received a Bible for a year of perfect attendance in church. I was about that same age. Like mother like daughter, I guess. :-)
Hi JL Boney, III ,
Were you one of those boys that didn't want to go to school at all?

Hi Wayne Martin ,
I hope you have an extra copy in a safe place! Those little treasures are a BIG deal.
I actually went through an old scrapbook a couple weeks ago, and found perfect attendance awards for two years I was in elementary school. They are yellowed a bit, but not tattered.

Carol,
I am laughing at the Woody Allen quote. It fits with the Pareto principle you discussed in your previous blog. What a lovely keepsake. A

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat ,
That's very cool. I'm not sure I ever had perfect attendance in school. Guess I was better at going to church. LOL
Yes, it is. Thank you Sharon Tara .

Hi Alexandra. Yes, I guess it would be appropriate for that post too. It's true for a lot of things! LOL

I'm glad you found the certificate that your mother earned and I'm sure it went on her permanent record as they always threatened me with. Thanks for sharing this throwback Thursday with us Carol...

I think I still have the little pin I got from perfect Sunday School attendance. It's hard to get rid of those things.

Good morning Carol - I relate to this exactly. My mother and father always showed up and I got many perfect attendance awards too.

Hi Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®,CRS,
It's kind of a special little treasure since I have so little of hers.
Hi Susan Haughton ,
I don't think I ever had perfect attendance at school. I was kind of a sickly child. I guess I was better at going to church than school. LOL
Hi Anna Banana Kruchten CRB, CRS, Broker ,
Those who knew her say I also look much like her.
Nice Grant Schneider ,
It's important to learn the value of responsibility, isn't it?
What a fun memory, Carol. I have a couple of my Mother's report cards. Pretty good, but NOT stellar!! LOL

Hi Jeff Dowler, CRS ,
Yes, this is pretty special. I would love to see some of the report cards. LOL I have so little of my Mom's things since most of it was sold after my Dad died in 1964.
Showing up is definitely important. Then once there, doing something!
I know with school, often times the lessons build upon each other. If you miss one class, it can get in the way of following along. If you miss many, there's sometimes no way to get caught up.
What a fun memento to find!
Hello Carol - I don't recall if I have any of my perfect attendance certificates but I do believe they are a part of who I am. Thank you for sharing.
