Door County Luxury Bed & Breakfast for Sale
We love it when we list a home that we wouldn't hesitate to own, or a business that we wouldn't hesitate to patronize (or own ourselves). This is one of those rare and wonderful times.
An extremely rare opportunity exists to own one of Door County's premier Bed & Breakfast establishments.
Four INCREDIBLY well appointed suites, plus private owners quarters, could be yours at this luxury destination in Sister Bay, Wisconsin. Completely remodeled in 2014 (down to the studs), the owners, Steve and Sandy, have created a brand that is unequalled in the luxury B & B scene. Tucked away just outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Sister Bay, the Lodge is close enough that guests can bike downtown (or to Ellison Bay) and bikes are readily provided.
"We wanted to create a place that WE would want to come", the owners stated to me upon first meeting. They spent years of research and time searching for not only the right spot (Door County), but also the right brand. While Door County can boast truly incredible Bed & Breakfast establishments (Roots Inn & Kitchen and The Juniper Inn both come to mind immediately), this establishment set out to be very uniquely different from the get-go.
The owners collaberated with well known Door County luxury brand designer Mitch Wise (who has designed and "re-designed" several properties for my clientele over the years, with INCREDIBLE results) to acheive the look that they were searching for. Now, they are well-known for the "rustic elegance" that their establishment provides. What feels like a rustic hunting lodge actually invites an incredible experience for even the jaded traveler. The Lodge consistently finds itself as the #1 Door County B & B on TripAdvisor, where the reviews are unamimously rhapsodic.
Upon check-in, guests will see their first names in the entry for their suite assignment, which is an immediate ice-breaker---you will know that "Sue and Bill" are in Suite 4, and by the time most guests leave, they are not only on a first-name basis, they often exchange contact information ("Be sure to Facebook/email/text me about that recipe (or anythingn else)!"is often heard at check-out).
The four guest rooms all boast hand-scraped hickory hardwood flooring, reclaimed barn wood, luxury mattresses, 650 thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, down pillows and comforters and so much more. The owners were instrumental at establishing the finer details--each suite boasts hand-crafted cedar vanities with Carerra marble tops--and tried to use local craftsmen whenever possible. Three suites have walk-in, tiled showers, and onee has a bath--and of course, only handmade, all natural bath products are offered. There is even turn-down service!
EACH BEDROOM SUITE IS DIFFERENT, YET
ALL BOAST THE SAME LUXURIOUS QUALITY
My favorite transformation at the Lodge is the room known as the Conservatory, which offers walls of windows and sliding glass doors to the decks outside, allowing full views of the woods wherever you glance. Sandy has also brought the outdoors in, by literally transplanting some cedar trees from the property into the conservatory, where they provide handsome bookends to "Elvis", the elk head the owners acquired to give the space just the right feel. The living room boasts a huge wood burning fireplace, where guests love to gather on chilly evenings.
ELVIS REIGNING OVER THE CONSERVATORY
Only eight guests are allowed to share this experience on any given evening. Coffee and/or tea in wicker baskets are left outside each room between 7 and 7:30 each morning, and a full breakfast, using local and fresh, seasonal ingredients, are served at 9 a.m. There is also a happy hour each evening, with local cheeses, wine and beer served on the patio (weather permitting) or in the dining room.
The Lodge is being offered fully furnished and appointed--one can move right in. Find out more about this unique opportunity to own your own Door County bed & breakfast in Sister Bay here.
Another favorite area in the Lodge is the unique Serving Room, which opens into the dining room (and leads into the private, custom, restaurant-grade kitchen). A chalkboard framed in barn wood proudly displays the local and regional producers the provide the food and drink served by the Lodge, including the Door County Creamery, Island Orchard Cider, and delicious Door County Love Granola.
We are also marketing the property as one of our luxury home packages, as it would make an ideal five bedroom (or four bedroom and bonus room) year-round home or vacation getaway in a fantastic location. Find out more about our listing at 11086 Highway 42, Sister Bay, WI 54234 here.
