"While you were busy judging others, you left your closet door open and a lot of skeletons fell out....Oops!"
I would like to recommend the novel Allie and Bea by Catherin Ryan Hyde.
Here is another book I loved. Even though it is a novel, it could be a real-life story about two innocent victims thrown into crisis due to unexpected events happening in their lives.
Bea is a woman who loses her husband and left to survive on her scant Social Security check, which wasn't going to cover even her basic expenses. To make things worse, she gets scammed out of her scant savings and is left homeless.
Allie is a teenager whose parents get hauled off to jail for tax fraud. Allie is then sent to a group home which turns out to be a cold, cruel place. Turns out running away from there with one of the other girls was running into disaster.
Without giving the storyline away, I'll just say that Allie and Bea end up crossing paths and try to figure out how to stay safe and alive.
I loved this book mostly because it has great dialogue about how our perspective on life, morality and how we judge other people can change when we are faced with unexpected circumstances.
I definitely recommend this book to everyone.
