Sacramento Market Shift Finds Agents Door Knocking

By
Real Estate Agent with Lyon Real Estate BRE #00697006

Nobody wants to come right out and admit that our market in Sacramento is changing. That causes alienation and confusion among sellers and buyers. However, I felt the tide begin to move away from a seller's market in May. It doesn't mean all hell is breaking loose as shifts in the marketplace are normal. We're becoming a bit more stabilized, and I expect we'll see the news from C.A.R. soon.

In the meanwhile, some agents are reverting to "old school" methods of selling real estate. Like plastering their faces on a bus bench (which always seemed degrading to me) or deciding to conquer new territories by door knocking. One such guy showed up at my door in Land Park yesterday, begging for listings.

Team member Amy asked if I told him who I was. Why? What would be the point of that disclosure? It's bad enough that I burst out in spontaneous laughter as my response. Poor guy. You can read more in my personal blog today at this link: Imagine My Surprise to Open the Door to a Land Park Specialist.

Door knocking is something that quite a few agents are doing here.  I have a friend that got a listing that way.  Personally, I have only done it to invite neighbors to an open house during the crash.  Met a guy that kept in touch with me until the day he died.  Fancied himself an investor.  Can't say it was worth the time invested.

Happy Fourth of July Elizabeth. It would seem that in some ways you and I are cut from the same cloth. I hate messing with my hair so consequently, the young lady who does wonders with my hair knows to cut it so that I can shake and go! At home I live in slip flops, shorts and a top I get from Fresh Produce. Very comfortable.

And as for the young man, if he only knew.....

BTW, it was very thoughtful of you not to embarrass that poor young man.

Elizabeth, our market always slows a bit late June or mid-July.   So far, all my listings have gone in the first weekend, so we shall see what this next listing does.

Like another agent friend of mine said the other day, "I think we are moving into a new normal."  While driving around yesterday, it was easy to note an increased population of For Sale signs on lawns as well.
