Busiest Sacramento Tourist Spots Often Quiet on Fourth of July

Real Estate Agent with Lyon Real Estate BRE #00697006

My first plan was the Cosumnes River hike.  I was trying to think of places not too far away from our home in Land Park where my husband and I could go on the Fourth of July. Just to get out into the glorious summer day. He really dislikes driving long distances over holidays. The drivers irritate him immensely; whereas I barely acknowledge knuckleheads. Instead, I accept those drivers as a fact of life and just avoid them.

But my husband takes every move they make as a personal affront. He is also concerned a drunk driver, and those numbers grow over the holidays, will smack into our car. Not an unreasonable concern. So walking it was. Besides, most people were spending time at home, so perfect time for us to get out. You can read more in my personal blog today at this link: A Lazy Fourth of July in Old Sacramento.

HI Elizabeth...  your photos made me wish I was walking along with you. And I get your husband's attitude about holiday drivers because I feel exactly the same way.

Sounds like you had a great Fourth of July with your husband.  Walking to Old Sacramento was just the ticket.  I wish our weather had been bearable outside.  It was sauna-like, so we vegged inside the house.

Good morning Elizabeth. Staying close to home on a holiday is a good idea. Who is in that picture?

Nina Hollander I think he characterizes them as beer-guzzling pick-up truck drivers who don't get into the city much, LOL.

Chris Ann Cleland Yes, we had very unusual weather in Sacramento on the 4th of July. It was spring-like and gorgeous. Most of the time we are like the Sahara Desert. Super hot, dry.

I'm going to back to Hawaii mid August and my neighbors there said WHAT? It's so hot in Kona then. Ha, nothing like Sacramento that time of year.

Sheila Anderson Who do you think is in that photo? I don't know who the guy is, though. Least he could do is offer a lady a drink. Reminds me of old friends from Nederland, Colorado, LOL.

Elizabeth- sounds like a good way to spend the Fourth!!! We grilled burgers then went to our friend's condo on the beach for the fireworks.  We were on the roof and could view fireworks all around us!

Elizabeth, you do have to get out and do something on days off, but we do get quite used to the knucklehead drivers.
