This is a warning to anyone who is thinking about buying a Frigidaire appliance or anything sold/produced by Electrolux who owns the Frigidaire brand. Pass this along to your network of friends as an FYI.
We purchased all new Frigidaire Professional appliances for our kitchen remodel. We like the appliances but the poor service is something that everyone needs to be aware of. We had a problem with the ice maker in the lower freezer. Since we were within the first year, the repair was covered by Frigidaire.
We call for service and we receive an appointment with one of their THIRD PARTY repair companies. The individual comes out and cannot fix the ice maker because he needs a part. We call him multiple times to reschedule with the part and he never returns any calls. We call Frigidaire back and they do not help us either saying that this is the only guy they use for repairs in my area and there is nothing they can do.
So, we had to go back to the dealer PC Richard (they are great!) and purchase an extended warranty from them so we could get THEIR repair tech to come out and service a refrigerator that should have been covered by Frigidaire for free within the first year.
Now, I would not have shared this information with you if I felt this was just an isolated incident and or just about our one experience with Frigidaire. After doing a lot of research online not only with Frigidaire but also this repair company (Herb's Appliance Service - Manalapan New Jersey), I am seeing dozens of other complaints with Frigidaire. Others have called/written to Frigidaire/Electrolux and they are not fixing this overall problem in their service/warranty department. IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM
To recap: We look the look and the functionality of the appliances. However, if service is important to you, then I would not recommend Frigidaire/Electrolux.
** Here is the funny part... they keep sending e-mails trying to get me to purchase an extended warranty directly with Frigdaire/Electrolux. Sure....
