Consistent | Committed | Disciplined | Are You? Can You?

 

Consistent is a word that’s frequently used in connection to the words commitment and discipline. Those words are not only reflective of business but also of personal life. To be consistent, one must commit to a task or lifestyle, and it often requires discipline.

With business, what surfaces first in my mind is marketing. To every listing agent, marketing is the key component to a successful real estate career. How many listings have you seen with nothing provided for marketing except a yard sign and an MLS submission? Most of those sellers are never aware of the lack of marketing and the void of commitment by their listing agent, until they’ve lost significant marketing time.

Blogging requires discipline. How disciplined are you with your daily real estate responsibilities?  Marketing is a responsibility for every listing agent, and it requires consistent application and that’s a disciplined action.

Is your marketing a “wake-up call” to other sellers who made the wrong choice? I think about this with every mailing; with every post that I submit online; and with every open house event that we host. Every homeowner will eventually see the light, and I want our phone to ring when that happens. That’s a great reason to get back on that “blogging wagon” isn’t it?

As far as personal lifestyle, the prime example is a New Year’s Resolution. That takes about 10 to 14 days at the gym to retrieve the space occupied by those who don’t have the discipline to commit to a healthy lifestyle. It could be walking or strength training, but it must also be complemented with the right activity in the kitchen.

Consistent exercise routines are commitments maintained with the discipline required to stay strong, fit and healthy. Online and offline marketing will result in business success, when the commitment is made to provide it consistently and that, too, requires discipline.
