I Survived 118 Degree Heat at Disneyland July 8, 2018!
by Disneyland Annual Passholder
Many folks consider visiting Disneyland and California Adventure in Anaheim, California during summer vacation. Here are some pros and cons to help survive the recent extreme heat wave.
Pros of visiting Disneyland in 118 degree heat:
1) Fewer visitors attend either Disneyland or California Adventure, making the Parks less crowdesd. Also most fellow park visitors are die-hard Disney fans.
2) The lower attendee count results in shorter ride and attraction lines. People literally just "walked on" to Pirates of the Caribbean. Other popular ride line waits were 15 minutes or less.
3) Refillable drink cups are definitely worthwhile to stay hydrated in this extreme heat.
4) No need to pack a coat, hat, gloves or blanket-it was still 99 degrees at 2 am.
Cons of visiting Disneyland in 118 degree heat:
1) There is little relief from the heat. Even going on a water ride such as White Water Rapids in California Adventure only resulted in being splashed with warm (not cool) water.
2) There's a larger need for breaks to change out of sweaty clothes and cool body temperatures down before returning to the parks.
3) Visitors definitely need to keep re-applying sunscreen.
