1.      A pushy or overly aggressive sales tactic. While almost all timeshares will have some element of a sales pitch, steer clear of any that are very aggressive. If you get accosted while you are coming off the plane or they won’t take no for an answer, this is a bad sign. Don’t attend that presentation because they will not become less aggressive once they think they have you hooked. Tell them no from the get-go and don’t let their “free” incentives fool you.

2.      Too many or too high-value free incentives. Part of the allure of the timeshare is that you get some pretty good free incentives. Things like a couple nights away, a round of golf, or free dinner are pretty standard and don’t raise a red flag. But, if they start offering a boat, week-long vacation, airfare, or anything else that seems too good to be true, you need to run. If this happens, it is a huge red flag that you are dealing with a less than ethical company, and you need professional help.
