I have worked as a handyman, and I actually did this while I was pregnant. Women who do hard physical work while they are pregnant are brave, and I was no exception. I am all for women empowerment, and I truly do believe that women are capable of every single thing men are. We are expected to be beautiful and fragile. We should speak softly and cry a lot. We are a symbol for men. The amount of pressure that women are under to be perfect and beautiful can be overwhelming at times. I am still young, but I fear what will happen when I become old. Right now I am young, smart, and beautiful--at least by most people's standards. When women get old, they aren't seen as beautiful anymore. When men get old, they are often seen as even more handsome. Our society is strange.
I hope my husband will still think I am pretty when I am old. I like to think that this is the case, and honestly there is so much depth to our relationship--I don't know that he really looks at me anymore anyway. That's kind of what happens in marriage after some time. Things aren't as exciting because they aren't new. You cannot recreate the excitement that existed in the early days of your relationship--but you can replace it with something better.
Back to babies and handymen. The point I wanted to make is that women are just as tough as men. We make it through pregnancy and childbirth, often while dealing with other hard things in life. Having a newborn can be even harder, and parenting hacks can truly be a lifesaver during these muddled times. Take it easy on yourself. Life can be hard sometimes, but just remember that many people did it before you, and many people did it after. If you are a woman, try and take it easy on yourself. If you are a man, make sure you are supporting the women in your life and reminding them CONSTANTLY that they are doing a good job.
We all do the best that we can.
