Memorial day..My Pet Peeve!

Well said!  I, too, have run into too many people that have no idea what Memorial Day is all about! 

nothing wrong

with acknowledging the good people do...

   while they are alive to know about our appreciation...

Why do people wait til others are dead..

 to say good things about them..

   It's a bit late for them to hear it.. don't you think?

 Share with those you love and those you appreciate..

 the good that you wish to acknowledge ..

 while they are still with you..

      pretty words at their funeral..

 are nice.. but while they are alive.. is so  much better..

  As I've believed for a long while..

  giving Flowers to the living...

 sure beats a bunch at the funeral....

   ???? ?  Have you said some kind words, given a few flowers, or a meaningful act of kindness  to those you care about lately???

.... if you have a heart....you may well  regret that you didn't sooner and more often.....

Hey thanks for posting this. Thanks to the troops, all who have served are serving and who died for this country!!!!

Amen!  Too many people take for granted what we have in this country.  They don't realize what others sacrificed for us to have the freedom we have in the USA.  Thanks to our armed forces and their families who sacrifice so much for all of us!

Excellent post and well said...straight to the point! It's a shame most people don't understand what it's all about and certainly not passed down to the children, so they will never know!

Rick, I asked a kid way back when I was coaching youth baseball what his plans were for this particular 3 day weekend and I was floored by his answer.

"it is the time that my dad gets drunk and then fights with my mom and we usually end up going to grandma's"

How sad.

It is sad that many don't at least take a moment of their time during the weekend to at least remember our service men and women.  They have sacrificed a lot for us.  Nazareth holds a small Memorial Day parade and then stop at the circle in town to remember the fallen Veterans.  Would you believe only a handful of people show up?  And I know it's not because they are sleeping in.  It's held at 11AM.
