My recent intermission (vacation) included 4 stops to visit with family and friends. The first stop was in Redmond, Oregon (outside of Bend) where my "other" Mother and her husband prepared an amazing dinner for us and we enjoyed an evening of great food and conversation. The next stop was a weekend in Redding, California with the nephew (and wife) of my traveling buddy. They have recently moved from the hustle bustle of Sacramento, California to a very rural setting in the northern California town of Shingletown, about 175 north. It was fun to see their new place in the woods. They are loving country life.
The third stop was in Eugene, Oregon to visit two sets of my cousins... one on my Dad's side of the family and one on my Mom's side.
The cousin on my Dad's side is the granddaughter of the aunt and uncle who raised my brother and me after our parents died. It was fun to spend time with her and her husband at their home for dinner, a neighborhood walk and dessert.
The cousin on my Mom's side is the family genealogist / historian. She is one of the few people still living that remembers my Mom and Dad. She always has a "show and tell" when we get together. This time she surprised me with an original picture of my Mom that was taken in about 1919. That is my best guess. Since my Mom died when I was 7 and I have very little of hers this picture is a true treasure for me. Although those who knew her said I look a lot like her, when I look at this picture I see my brother's eyes. Thanks, cousin Shirley for bringing this out of the archives for me!
After the family and friend visits, we headed to the beach for 4 days of fun in the sun on beaches and golf courses.
Morning Carol.
The only family I deal with these days are a 5 hour drive away. Going to visit them in September, after I play 18 that is
