Hurricane Season Begins June 1st...Are You Prepared?

Hurricane PhotoWith the start of the Atlantic Hurricane Season just around the corner, now is the perfect time to get prepared. The following link to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)'s website, will help you in this endeavor...Hurricane Preparedness And please...DO NOT forget about your pets!! Include them in your preparedness plans!

Here is a list of the key factors that any Disaster Prevention should include:

Developing A Family Plan

Creating a Disaster Supply Kit

Having a Place to Go

Securing your Home

Having a Pet Plan

Another important thing to remember is to ALWAYS heed the evacuation notices!

People don't heed the warnings and then they end up in disaster they expect others to risk their lives to come and save them(sorry..too bad..so sad)....if someone says there is a hurricane coming..get out....I am out of there!

Sharp thinking by the BLR BROKER..

     to post a timely and very valid post..

     to help get the ball rolling on always being prepared..

   All the earthquakes, tornadoes, flooding , etc..

   points out.. no matter where one lives.. BE PREPARED for the weather changes..

 

(p.s.  -  smart to remember the PET PREP too..   though some make be smarter than average.. they most often cann't do their own shopping for emergency supplies!   lol.. don't make them have to call 911 to complain that you've neglected providing them with even the basics..  lol... now   maybe they don't  all know the SPCA's number... but don't be surprised if they  have paid attention and do know which button gets your mother (or even worse your mother-in-law!) on speed dail... if they really want some quick results...)   Be sure to prepare for EVERYONE's  needs  (even a few pleasures and toys for the furry ones...just like the two legged kiddies have ) for those possibly long days after the storm!

      you bring up a good point...

     Are you, as a homeowner  got your storm shutters ready to go..

(and ready to pull down or put up-- before leaving.. be sure to leave enough time to do so)..

    Or in some cases (if the condo, or landlord for some) someone else is responsible...

    there's also, in some areas, companies that can be hired (do so well ahead of time!) to be sure to secure your home..

      just a thought...

        you can rest a little more easy.. evacuating...  if you have done the securing properly!!

You are welcome Kara...the links are great even if you don't live in a Hurricane prone area. We all need to have a disaster plan, no matter what the disaster is.

Charles...you said it! We should always be prepared for any disaster. Unfortunately, people here are a bit complascent, as we haven't had a direct hit for a very long time! Personally, I'd like to keep it that way.

Cris.  Thanks for the post and links.  I just picked up similar information from an insert in the local newspaper - but search repeatability is obviously easier online - and now I don't have to hold on to various papers for reference!  Thanks, again, for making life easier one post at a time.
