Actually we had a french wine on Saturday too but it was a Chablis, I chose this wine to review as we had it yesterday in celebration of the French winning the world cup yesterday. This was a very good wine but I think it will be better in 2 or 3 years as it was a little tight even with decanting and letting it breathe. The has a very deep dark purple color, it is very intense with toasty taste with deep blackberries and tart dark raspberries, a hint of green in it. The finish is very long on the mouth, the aromas are very rich and dark deep fruit. It paired well with our weekly steak, salad and sweet potatoes.
