By

This is part 11 of excerpts from the trail log which was located on a New York portion of the Appalachian trail. For the post which explains this series, click here.  Each new edition includes a quote from a hiker, along with this writer's insight into what the person might have meant. Your interpretation may be different!

Following is my selection of this week's thoughts of a hiker.

August 8, 2017

The Wanderer -

Let yourself fall in love with nature. Visit new places and discover your own backyard. Spend more time outside watching sunrises and sunsets. Make time to star gaze. Stand barefoot in the beautiful earth & connect your soul to the energy that created you. You are part of a magnificent universe. Take the time to be present w/it all. Allow nature to feed your soul.

Hiking Log - The WandererThis hiker's thoughts need no additional insight from me. So I won't add any this time.

Read the words of this person and consider following his or her advice. Nature and the world are there for exploring!

Anthony Acosta - ALLATLANTACONDOS.COM - Thank you!

Jeff Pearl - Your photo is beautiful! That looks like a great spot to visit. Our trail log is not in a shelter - it's on a tree along the way.  Have a great day!

Alexandra - Beaches are amazing. I love them as well.

Grant - I hike or jog in my neighborhood on a regular basis, and I agree - doing the same thing in nature/woods is so much more enriching.

Hello Kat and your hiking posts are interesting, a bit like mine only your posts have more information and mine more photos.

This title in your post caught my attention because I have been a wanderer all my life, and my ancestor's being from Romania and Czech make me a bit of a gypsy ;o)

Hello kat, Growing up in Pennsylvanis, we live 2 miles down from the trail and would hike it and camp on it a number of times in our early years,  Some great views along the Blue Mountain.

Yes it does Kat and I exchanged 40 years of my life to travel, see the world in exchange for a very weathly life.

I don't regret one year of the 40 wandering and would do it again given the chance :o)

At any time I can close my eyes and imagine the many places I have traveled in my mind and or in my photographs. And my traveling is not complete, there are several places I have yet to visit!

HI Kat Palmiotti - I find your blogs on the trail log very interesting indeed. I have found that when hiking on a trail, it is like meditation. Thoughts are cleared, cleansed and purified througout your body and spirit... IMHO

So a log journal of hiker's thoughts would be fascinating to read.

One of the reasons I moved to Sedona, was the outdoors, hiking and stars.  It took me awhile to get grounded.

There is extreme challenging hike/climb up to the top of Bell Rock that takes climbing skills. My son is an expert at climbing this rock. At the top, there is a log. It is very special because not many people get to the top to write something in it. Very facinating subject!

Hi Kat, The hiker's words were perfect.  They moved you to another place and there was a peace that came over me just reading the words.
