Refinishing Kitchen Stools - Fast & Easy & Inexpensive

Home Stager with Sharon Tara Transformations

We found our new kitchen stools!

Last month I wrote about my new kitchen and how the last remaining piece in our transformation was finding new counter stools.

After going to many stores and not finding what I wanted, I just happened upon two stools at a yard sale.

They weren't really what I was looking for,

but they were in good condition, sturdy and only $20 for the pair.

On the way home we stopped and bought new fabric and spray paint.

My husband was quick to remove the seats and

give the stools a light sanding when we got home.

By that afternoon the painting was done

and in no time the seats were covered and reattached.

They aren't what I was looking for, but after expenses they cost us less than $50 for the pair

and they will certainly do until something better comes along!

We used Krylon Chalky Finish spray paint.

It went on easier than any other spray paint we have used in the past.

There was not one run or drip on either chair.

We highly recommend it.

I really love the chalky, matte finish.

The chairs don't look spray painted at all.

Sharon, I always love a good DIY project! And quick!!!

I just completed an "accent wall" in our dining room that took a quick trip to Parr Lumber, going to a website called for the new product that offered exactly what I was looking for (rustic and distressed woods in varying shades), and my contractor and I did this in 6 hours. It went from gray to WOW in a short period of time, and I had boards left over! (To do more projects with the gathering of stones and shells I collected in Alaska on a recent trip).

Accent Wall in a Box Coeur d'Alene Wood It's called "Accent Wall in a Box" and altogether cost under $1,000 including labor.

The chairs look great, Sharon Tara ... kudos to you for recycling them into beauties!  We did something similar with an old chair we had.  A little spray paint and new fabric and Wah-lah!  Wonderful results at a fraction of the cost of new ...

Who wouldn't love that??

Love the before & after shots, Sharon! Those look amazing and 2 bar stools for under $50 is unheard of here - ONE for under $50 is! LOL

Thanks for the Krylon paint tip too - love that it doesn't drip!

And, you know, I LOVE that wall-in-a-box that Gayle Rich-Boxman Fishhawk Lake Real Estate did - JUST WOW!

I frequently reinvent furniture and like the construction of your bar stools. It's amazing what a fresh coat of paint and new fabric will do to breathe new life into furniture.
