"When I compete in an event, it is not about beating the other players. It is about doing MY best."
This will be the last post for the July 2018 Road trip.
After my detour home to check on the irrigation water supply to my yard, I headed back to Spokane. The main purpose for going back was to participate in the Liberty Lake 18-hole Ladies Golf League Guest Day tournament with my friend (and travel buddy), Gail. I was actually surprised Gail invited me to this event because she is pretty much dead set against competition. I have participated in many competitions and, as far as I know, she had never competed in a single one. I promised her we would just go in with the idea of having fun and not to win anything. She seemed satisfied with that.
The weather forecast was for the temperature to reach 100º. We went prepared with our neck-wrap coolers and plenty of ice cold water.
We got paired up with another member and her sister. Turns out the other member and I were very similar in our golfing ability. It was fun sparring with her and matching scores. In the end, after 18 holes, our two teams ended up with a tied score. We didn't win the event but we did place so that was nice. I played well and enjoyed the day very much. Plus, I got to meet some new people. I call that a win/win.
Gail said she was glad she invited me because I taught her how to do the scoring in a "net" tournament. She didn't know how that works and she caught on fast. All-in-all, it was a great day.
Drove back home on Wednesday, the 18th. It was a great Intermission.
