Serendipity Sundays - The Harvest Has Begun

Tomatoes

Last week produced lots of rain, hot temperatures and tons of sunshine. Those are perfect conditions for ripening tomatoes and mine are coming in by the droves. These are the best tomatoes I have ever grown and we are eating them as often as possible.

I am giving some away and freezing some. I have a couple of tomato deliveries scheduled for tomorrow and love sharing the wealth. The vines have another few weeks of new growth on them with some of the vines approaching 8 feet tall. There will plenty to bless others with.

The cherry tomatoes are the best and sweetest and I pop them in my month like candy. I will save some to make a fresh Shrimp Creole later in the week. Thank you Mother Nature.

Do you ever grown heirloom tomatoes? I don't think these are heirlooms. My husband grows nothing but heirlooms, all sorts of weird tomatoes, like black ones and purple and some solid yellows.

There is nothing like a fresh tomato from the yard, no matter which it is. We slice fatly, pat a bit of burrata on it, top with a sprig of basil and drizzel virgin olive oil.
