Thermal Imaging has always been included on our home inspections because we believe it is such a valuable detection tool that everyone should benefit from it. Infrared Thermal Imaging is a technology that allows us to “see” what the human eye cannot. Thermal Imaging detects tiny but crucial differences in temperature throughout a house.
These temperature variations often reveal “invisible” problems concealed from the human eye. Thermal Imaging can be useful in detecting many issues in a home, including:
- Potential internal structural problems
- Moisture intrusion (which can lead to the development of mold)
- HVAC duct work leaks
- Ventilation issues
- Displaced and/or missing insulation
- Plumbing and roof leaks
- Faulty wiring
- Electrical hot spots that can lead to house fires if not corrected
- Inoperable appliances
- Insect hives in walls
- Inoperable radiant floors
Most of these problems will go undetected in an ordinary visual inspection. But with our enhanced infrared home inspection, our inspector can easily and quickly scan the house and pinpoint these concerns, providing clients with additional vital information. Our inspector is trained and certified to use and interpret the findings of IR technology. Some competitors may also have an IR camera, but lack the proper training to interpret what they are seeing.
