Lakefront Red Feather cabins and a Murder Mystery Writer
Last year I had the pleasure of meeting C. L. Hutchins, who writes murder mysteries (he calls “cozies”). A former client referred me to Mr. Hutchins, and we met at his cabin near Shagwa Lake. When Larry (CL Hutchins) gave me a copy of his latest book titled “Traded Affections”, I didn’t know if I had time to read it. I’m not good at being a casual reader because once I start a book I don’t want to stop…”who cares about dinner or sleeping? I’m reading this book!” It’s for that reason, I don’t read as much as I would like.
My "problem" with reading doesn't compare to our old friend/housemate Charlie's. He always had his nose in a book. When our cabin in Gunnison caught fire from the old pot belly stove, and I’m am not kidding you, Charlie did not put his book down! He moved to a different chair out of the way of the fire fighters and the stove, and just kept reading!
If the house was on fire, I would probably stop reading, but I have loved every book written by C.L. Hutchins!
Three of his books, in a series, ‘Claim on Death’, ‘Murder Prescribed’, and ‘Deadly Bingo’, take place right here in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado and involve a young divorced real estate agent /amateur detective and many colorful local characters, along with surprising twists and turns in the storylines. I’ve read all 3 books in the series and found each one a very enjoyable quick read.
I’m glad to say the murder and intrigue are solely in the author’s imagination, and not in real-life Red Feather Lakes!

Speaking of imagination, murder and intrigue: after a bizarre afternoon of showing cabins in the Village to out- of-control buyers, the thought of murder did cross my mind … (OH, I’M JUST KIDDING!) The buyers were so frenetic, though I began to wonder if I was on some sort of Hidden Camera TV Reality Show!

Here's one of my newer listings: It’s a lakefront cabin on beautiful Snake Lake in the Village of Red Feather. It has a large living room with gorgeous lake and snowcapped mountain views. This little gem was built in 1951 and re-modeled in 1989. Typical of the Red Feather Village it sits on ¼ acre nestled in rock outcroppings and pines.
You could enjoy your morning coffee/evening beverage (or enjoy reading a murder mystery by C.L. Hutchins), on the lakeside deck, at the kitchen table, or in your easy chair by the fire overlooking the water.
This is a great cabin on the lake, for fishing, wildlife watching, relaxing, or entertaining friends & family.
