I am posting this to introduce emotion back into a digital world in which we tend not to talk to each other anymore -- even by phone; not meet each other face to face, not even send handwritten letters to our loved ones -- but rather rely on texts, emails, and social media to express ourselves.  Even our photographs and music are documented on digital media!

We need to remember we are human beings and not let the machines take over.

Write to someone you care about by hand.  Give coloring books to your kids and grandchildren.

And stop using computers for a day or two to get your bearings!

Oh yeah: Mauriat's 'Love is Blue' did that to me as well.  I was in Turkey listening to US broadcasting on the radio.  I would wait fervently until they played this.  1968

Hi James, there is something special about those days.  Think about it: barely have three or four channels on TV, only one or two phones wired into your house, no cell phones or texting, no computers and internet!  Amazing how we got along without any of this when world powers were threatening each other with nukes!  We had pen and pencil and read newspapers.  The 50s were great years and stress free!!

We are human beings. We do need contact with one another. Talking, caring, sharing. It would be great if we could take a day every so often and just ignore technology.

When I was a teenager (in the 70s), I remember our one TV broke and my dad refused to replace it for the summer. I'm pretty sure it was a few months before we got a new one. Believe it or not, we had plenty of things to do - play outside, ride bikes, fish, explore, talk, read, draw, create.... We should all do more of that.

Joe, I just heard a version of Stardusk sung by Frank Sinatra on our jazz station here in Orlando.  It was way cool.  I was going to save this link for another post: a great trumpet piece.
