"Never underestimate the value of having fun."
On Thursday afternoon my best friend, from across the state, came for a long weekend of fun in the sun. On Thursday evening we stayed in, grilled some burgers and sat out in the courtyard and chatted with wine in hand.
Friday was a full day. I needed to go to Chelan to pick up a wine club release from Lake Chelan Winery. So, that was the first order of business. I really enjoy being a member of their wine club because they not only have great wines, they also host several members-only events during the year. It was a little too early to imbibe in the free wine tasting they offer, so we picked up the wine and decided to head up the Blueberry Hills Farms where they have a very popular restaurant that overlooks a large blueberry field... a lovely setting. It was getting on toward noon and Gail was in the mood for a piece of peach pie and some ice cream. Me, being the good sport, agreed to this lunch plan. Don't judge! LOL
After our pie stop, we headed back to Wenatchee because we wanted to catch an afternoon matinee showing of the movie Mama Mia! Here We Go Again before going to an evening AppleSox baseball game. Due to our busy day, we got to the game in the 3rd inning, just in time to see our team get a grand slam home run, which was immediately followed by 2 solo home runs.
Saturday was golf at the Leavenworth Golf Club. It was a warm day and the Icicle River which runs along holes number 5 and 6 looked very inviting. There were several groups of tube floaters on the river. If you look closely (or can enlarge the picture) you can see some of the floaters. They sounded like they were having a lot of fun because they sure were noisy.
During the round of golf we were able to enjoy watching some local wild life. There was a chipmunk munching on some kind of a cone or nut and some deer lazing in the grass in the trees near the clubhouse.
After a hot round of golf, and taking a few pictures we went in to have a cold drink then headed home. We stopped for Chinese take out at Wok & Roll. This is similar to Panda Express but smaller and way better! After picking up our food we went back to my house and enjoyed a quiet evening.
Today, Sunday, we had Apple Annies Antique Mall in Cashmere on the agenda. We didn't have anything special in mind but love to wander around and in their 70,000 square feet of treasures under one roof. Our first order of business was to have breakfast at the 59er Diner which is in the antique mall. Then we had the energy to walk around browzing for a couple of hours. Gail bought a couple things. I got out of there financially unscathed, except for the cost of breakfast.
I have a busy week coming up but it was fun to have my friend here for the long weekend.
