Change...

Change…

It’s a fact of life...the older you get the quicker time seems to fly.

We were driving around Delray the other day remarking about newchange businesses opening and even more, thinking about those that have closed.

What happened to them, we mused?!

It then occurred to us that we’ve been in Florida off and on for over 30 years! Businesses close, owners sell, retire, or die. The business landscape changes.

The trouser shop that had been on Atlantic Avenue since we moved here in 1987 was a fixture and part of the local color. It was known for its only in South Florida colorful pants. But it closed last year (or was it the year before?) after the owner finally felt it was time to retire. I suppose at 74 years of age and over 30 years on the Avenue it was time.

All I can say is enjoy every moment and drink it in as if you’d been stranded in the desert for days without water.

There is nothing permanent except change. Heraclitus

I hate throwing cold water on the "change is good" folks; but I'd argue that change is only as good as the power that sends it, and the ability of those to shape it into positive form.  Otherwise, it is only pure raw energy!

Hi Gita Bantwal Thank you!  It's so important to embrace each day and welcome change.

Nina Hollander we've been seeing so many changes in Delray, especially along Atlantic Avenue, but I hope they don't change the tone of the city.

Wayne Martin you've got that right. It's going to come so you might as well enjoy the ride.

You just keep trying!!! LOL Sally K. & David L. Hanson

Dorie Dillard I agree, especially with the smart phones. When we moved here over 30 years ago, I can remember having to look for a pay phone to call an agent to inquire about a house for sale.

Grant Schneider And what I've found is that just when you think that things are calm and you have it all in order...here comes change knocking at the door.

Brian England I remember our local pharmacy when I was growing up. We'd sit at the counter and have cherry cokes!

Morning Kathy.

Our little town atmosphere has done a 180º change in the time I've lived in the area.  Homes that you could by for 100K is now costing 500K or better.

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®,CRS,   - you make an excellent point!  Are we changing because of the changes around us or have the changes in ourselves changed the things around us?

James Dray Things and people come and go. We have to treasure what we have when we have it.
