One of my favorite events in Old Sacramento has always been Gold Rush Days. Traditionally held each Labor Day Weekend, I can’t remember a year I haven’t attended. News that Gold Rush Days for 2018 is canceled temporarily broke my heart. However, announcement the event will return next year on Memorial Day weekend, rather than the traditional Labor Day weekend, makes a lot of sense. Memorial Day weekend in 2019 will coincide with the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad. And, temperatures in late May are usually more pleasant than temps hitting the century mark in late August or early September!
Old Sacramento has introduced a new event to help celebrate Labor Day this year. Although, it is not the kid and family friendly event Gold Rush Days is, I am certain many folks of the adult persuasion will enjoy “The Labor Day Craft Beer Crawl.” The event to be held Friday evening, August 31st 2018 – from 6 PM until midnight, will provide participants over the age of 21, with the ability to stroll the streets of Old Sacramento while visiting 8 Old Sacramento bars for just $16 bucks, in random order.
