Home Price Index: January 2017 to July 2018

HPI: The Home Price Index provides a general idea of how home prices are changing over time.

The graph shows the various home types and how they have changed in price since the peak early last year.

One can see that the housing market has somewhat stabilized since July 2017, although there have been some fluctuations.

Although 10-15% price reductions from peaks are seen, apartments & condos have recently returned to their peak levels.

Interest rate hikes and policy changes (mortgage approval stress test, foreign speculation tax, foreign cash flow regulations and immigration policy) continue to impact the housing market.
