Sedona Lifestyle ... Broken Arrow - It's not just a 1950's Movie

Broken Arrow ~ Sedona Arizona

Broken Arrow Trail

The 1950's Movie - Broken Arrow

James Stewart along with Jeff Chandler starred in this movie.  Many of the scenes were shot right here in what is now the neighborhood of Broken Arrow, Broken Arrow Vista and Doodlebug #2.

A REALTOR® Founded Pink Jeep!

This off-road trail was popularized by a real estate agent named Don Pratt.  He went to Waikiki Beach's pink Royal Hawaiian Hotel. He would show homes in the Broken Arrow Estates back in 1958 and founded Pink Jeep Tours using that iconic color of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.

Pink Jeeps maintains this Broken Arrow trail.  The tour is about 2 hours. The red Rubicon Jeep to the left is my husband going down one of the steeper formations near Merry-Go-Round Rock.  All you can see out the window in a couple of areas is the ground. I decided to get out and take the picture....!

red rock Broken Arrow Trail

This is a grueling drive. The reason it takes two hours is the terrain. You can only take a jeep or similar 4 wheel drive vehicle into this area. Wider vehicles may not make it through some of the more narrow portions of the trail. Fortunately for the driver, my husband Rick, there are spots to check out a sink hole and other formations like Submarine Rock where you can park and do a short hike.

This particular trail does require a lot of skill to maneuver through the undulations. There is the "Devils Staircase" which is hard to go down without hitting the side.  We used to take everyone who came to visit on one or two, four-wheel trail drives.  I would now recommend that our friends go to Pink Jeep for their tour!

Here are a couple of more pics and a video that is very well done and shows what it is really like to go four-wheeling in Sedona!

Chicken Point above is the end of the 4 wheel drive trail but mountain biking and hiking does not stop there! In fact some major dare devil bike rides (riding the White Line) have been filmed in this area.

Morning Sheri.

Some of those places in the video is where I've located some of my golf balls, when I don't keep them in the fairway.  Got to get to Sedona before my time is up

Love that pink jeep, Sheri. As for riding that trail... I was getting "sea sick" just watching it! Reminded me a bit of wadi-bashing in the desert in the middle east... same kind of driving as you pictured. I did it once... that was enough.

Wow, love the pink jeep story and the video. Looks like fun, although I think I'd rather hike it than drive it. :)  Our Land Rover can do this, but we won't ever take it out and try it....ha.

You would definitely want a Jeep or similar vehicle to maneuver the rocks and steep declines, and I wouldn't want to drive my own vehicle! I'd be on the edge of my seat with white knuckles holding on for dear life! It's simply gorgeous though.
