Ron and Alexandra Seigel hi Alexandra... Ardrey Kell has long been recognized as a top Charlotte and North Carolina High School. It competes heavily with neighboring Marvin Ridge in the adjoining County. Marvin Ridge came in at #2 this year.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® hi Sheri... I should know Ballantyne like the back of my hand... I moved here in 2001 when there was not a single traffic light in the area one one piddling supermarket. Now there are traffic lights on every other corner and more supermarkets than you can count!

Grant Schneider hi Grant... no doubt. Even when I have clients without kids or grown kids who tell me they don't care about schools, I tell them they need to care as good school impact home resale values going forward.

Joan Cox thanks, Joan. And the schools are exactly why areas like Ballantyne, Fort Mill, Waxhaw are in huge demand in the Charlotte region.

Camas also has award-winning schools and that's why so many families are moving into our charming little town.  We have a larger tax base to support our parks and schools and we both think it's worth it to have a healthy and viable community. We occasionally run into people our age who grumble about it as they have no kids or grand kids in the area and don't feel they should have to support schools. So short sighted.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD hi Debb... since our schools are supported by county taxes, everyone pays the same rate regardless of whether they are in a good or not so good school district. Obviously, houses in the top school districts sell for more so their tax base is higher but the rate is the same for all Mecklenburg county residents.

That's so interesting - in our area, it varies quite bit between our various towns...

Aug 29, 2018 07:31 AM
Nina Hollander, Broker

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD  hi Debb... that might be because your towns have their own schools? In our case, schools are county schools.
