The Discovery Center is all about inspiring a lifelong interest and learning in science, technology, engineering and math. Michael and I have both been to the Discovery Center before, and so has Jonathan, but we have not been in years. Jonathan loved coming here as a young child, and it has only gotten better over the last two decades. In fact, the Discovery Center now offers “Adult Nights,” which we quickly found out are a way for adults to “play” and explore all of the things that DCI has to offer, and then some.
One night, every other month, they close up shop to anyone under the age of 21. They bring in music, local food and drinks and tailor the evening around a central topic sure to pique the interest of their more mature guests. Cycling. Brewing. Illumination. You get the idea.
Then, if that’s not enough already, they invite experts to give short talks or demonstrations, do experiments and shows, and guests have the opportunity to speak with those in the know as the night goes on. Adult Nights at DCI boil down to STEM learning, socializing and a good time all rolled into one great night.
And because of that, and it’s cultural impact on the City of Trees, I had to add it to the list of Boyles Boise: 52 things to do and see.
