Windmill Food Hall Due to Open Soon in Carlsbad 2018

Windmill Food Hall is Coming to Carlsbad

Carlsbad windmillOne of the hot trends in dining for foodie lovers, the Food Hall, is coming to Carlsbad at the iconic Windmill, built in 1982 and the original site of Pea Soup Andersen’s Restaurant, followed by TGI Friday's.

The Windmill Food Hall is due to open in September, after some delays, and no doubt will appeal to a wide range of foodies, given what we are being told is the vendor line-up, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.

Stay tuned for updates!

The Windmill Food Hall will have multiple eateries, a common seating area, library, bar, and more including monthly events.

It's in an easy-to-access location off Palomar Airport Road and the 5 freeway, across the street from the popular Carlsbad Premium Outlets Mall, and adjacent to the Carlsbad by the Sea Resort.

You can bet I will be checking it out after it opens!!

Carlsbad has added a number of restaurants in the last year or less; these immediately come to mind:

7 Mile Kitchen recently opened at the new Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and Spa (adjacent to the new Westin resort) - no doubt named after the 7 miles of Carlsbad Beaches!

Bluewater Grill in Carlsbad Village

Crackheads, with full outdoor bar and dining in a shipping container in the heart of Carlsbad Village (the 2nd container-based place to dine here, joining the Choice Juicery)

Pier 101 on the Coast Road in the Village (a collection of cafeteria-style eateries)

Shorehouse Kitchen on State Street in the Village

And there are others… it’s too hard to keep up.

I can see my dining-out budget will have to expland considerably.

Sounds like a fun place, I might have to check it out in October!  If I recall correctly, there was a windmill outside of the restaurant that we met at in Oceanside, right?  Actually, now that I think about it a little more, it was a light tower, haha.

Hi Brian England

You're close...it was a lighthouse!

I still have you on my schedule for a meet-up on October 29th. I'll put the word out so we can figure out a place to meet!

I was thinking lunch would be better as well, I will put that on my calendar and we can figure out where to meet as we get closer to the date.

I am open. Do you have a preference? Lunch may be better in terms of traffic coming up and down the freeway.

Perfect Jeff Dowler, CRS , I will put it on my calendar as well.  Will we be meeting for lunch or dinner?

It should be fun to visit and experience the quality of what they have to offer Ron and Alexandra Seigel . Just hope it doesn't feel like a food court!! LOL. Not my style or interest.

Hi Jeff- I like the sounds of this!!!  I'm not familiar with the Windmill Food Hall but I like the idea of there being a library there.

Hi Kathy Streib

It should be interesting to visit and check it out. It's a busy area so my bet is plenty of people to take advantage...plus a hotel next door. I, too, like the idea of the library, and also the monthly events!

Hi John Henry

It should be a pretty interesting place to dine. I know there was a delay in construction and I'm not sure it's open yet - haven't seen anything.

Yes, by all means feel free to use and revise. I don't recall who I got it from but made a few changes.
