Marte Cliff, you'd be amazed at how often authors can't decide on one spelling of a name. I find misspelled or differently spelled names ALL THE TIME. I proofread a novel earlier this summer and the author had spelled 4 different character names several different ways (it was fantasy and the names weren't normal, so understandable) and one particular name he spelled 3 different ways. He was so embarrassed that he missed those. I told him not to worry, it was common, and that's what proofreaders are for. -Kasey
