It's been cloudy all day long. It rained a lot last night. We have had storms in various places and light rain at times, then heavy downpours. All in all, we've been blessed with about 2 inches of rain. The forecast calls for more rain for several more days.
I am happy about the rain because we have been in a small drought. I am glad the land is getting watered and I'm sure all the wildlife and the vegetation likes it too.
While sitting at my computer, I began to hear a noise that sounded like water dripping. I looked all around, could not see a problem. I went back to typing but I heard it again. I opened the window to hear it better. My first thought was the rain gutters dripping excess from the roof. No, it was not that.
Listening more carefully, I was surprised to discover it was bird noises. They are so happy about the rain, I suppose. They are louder now and it is easy to tell, it is birds. Those are unusual sounds they are making. It is like a thump, a pop, a drip. It is so remarkable. I've never heard these sounds before and I like bird watching.
We have some new birds on the feeder lately. Maybe, they are just passing through. But bird sounds that mimic rain drops is a new one on me. Don't you just love nature!
