The first sign of fall in the Upstate isn't necessarily the change of the leaves or even a change in the weather. It has so much more to do with Apples! The weekend following Labor Day is the 57th South Carolina Apple Festival, in Westminster, SC. Festivities. Oconee County is the largest apple-producing area in the state.
What better way to celebrate fall, than a festival that has been an annual event since 1961? There are Apple Festival events happening all this week. Activities include; The Apple Festival Pageant, Golf Tournament at Chickasaw Point Golf Course, Chattooga River Float. On Thursday, Sept 6th the Starts the weekend off with the Apple Pie baking contest, Live Entertainment 5:30-8pm, Food, and vendors will be lining Main Street, near the depot, and the Mr. & Mrs. Apple Dumpling Pageant. Fridays events schedule has even more packed in, 11-7 Arts and Crafts, vendors, food, and rides, as well as live entertainment. Enjoy a quilt show, 5:00 Parade, Rotary Club Luncheon at the Methodist Church, and end the evening at 8:00 p.m. -- 29th ANNUAL WESTMINSTER IPRA Rodeo, tickets are $12 for adults, kids 6-12 $5, 5 and under are free. Saturdays schedule is 10:00-5pm with more of the same great fun with the added Classic Car Show at 10:00 am, and kids activities, vendors, food, and crafters.
