Do Not Wait Forever to Try Ziplining

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

There seemed to always be some sort of reason why I could not go ziplining in the past. Although, whenever I go on vacation, the ziplining places seem to be everywhere. Part of the reason I'd never gone ziplining before was finding a person to do it with. Like, my husband would not want to go ziplining unless I forced him.

On top of that, usually you have to make an appointment. I prefer more spur-of-the-moment activities while on vacation and trying to schedule how I might feel on any given day is difficult.

But Josh and Vika booked this ziplining appointment near Hilo, which is about a 2-hour drive one-way from Kona. At least we had the good sense to call and ask what we should wear. The woman who answered the phone said it was raining in Hilo, so bring a dry change of clothes.

As it turned out, we were the ONLY zipliners on Labor Day at Botanical World Adventure. It was raining when we arrived, but as soon as donned our helmets, the rain stopped. Soaring over lush tropical gardens and ending near a waterfall was simply spectacular. My only regret is I didn't do this years earlier. Now I want more. You can see a lot more photographs and read more in my personal blog today at this link: World Botanical Adventures for Ziplining on Big Island.

It is on my list of things to try Elizabeth! I have only ever done the short kids ziplines at camps. Someday, I will go on some big ones!

Elizabeth- I am excited just hearing about your trip!!! How brave are you!!! I'm not fond of heights so I think the only way I could do it is if I had some kind of liquid courage in me and just did it without thinking.

I haven't tryied ziplining.  However, I had friends who wore a GoPro and videoed ziplining in the Costa Rican Rain Forest.  It definitely spurred my interest.  I think after a certain age you can do most anything, as long as you have a heavy duty pair of Depends on!

Libby Cousins You should try the big kid zips as they are so completely fun and engrossing. I bet you would really like it.

Kathy Streib I don't think you would do well on "liquid courage" as you really need your wits about you to do this,

Elizabeth, good for you on experiencing ziplining!  I have a definite fear of heights, and get vertigo, so probably won't ever do this.

Joan Cox So sorry to hear that. How do you feel about flying in planes? At least with this ziplining, they worked up to it. We started with small zips and worked up to the granddaddy, the half-mile over the gorge and past the waterfalls. I had a slight hesitation, but then you just do it and it's over, and you wish you could do it again!

Elizabeth, I sit in the aisle seat, and have no problem flying, cannot see there is no ground below me.    You do make it sound like it would be easier.

Joan Cox Not to mention, you have much less of a chance of getting sucked out the window in an aisle seat.

What fun!  The first time, the toughest part is getting strapped in that seat and making up your mind you are really going to do this.
