Both of our fireplaces have low-maintenance gas logs, Lisa. So, other than keeping them clean and dust-free, I can take a break on maintenance on this one thing in my house! LOL

Nope, but fire weather won't be here until November or December, so we have plenty of time.

Hi Lisa... I have no chimney... just a gas fireplace. And I don't run it more than a couple of times each year... but it is serviced annually when my HVAC is serviced for the fall/winter season, nonetheless.

Good morning Lisa. Regular maintenace was a must for me when I had a fireplace. I was an avid user and burned lots of wood! Enjoy your day!

Good morning Lisa Von Domek,

Good tips to share for everyone with fireplaces. We to have low maintenance gas burning fireplaces so make sure we keep them dust free and cleaned. We don't have many days to use them but love the ambiance when they are!

This is very important for all homeowners with fireplaces.  It's getting really hard to find a good chimney sweep in my area.  We just don't have that many fireplaces.

Good morning Lisa  - ours has been clean for a few years.  I love it but stopped using it when I realized that it left dark residue on the walls and had everything painted.  My major problem probably can't be fixed.  The chimney is not at the highest point of the house which is a must to draw properly.

Great tips!  I don't even have a fireplace in my home and if I did, I don't think I would use it very often, haha.

Lisa every year there are fires started by fireplaces that have not been properly maintained.  Properties with fireplaces should be checked every year.

Our fireplace burns gas ventless logs. With one click of the remote and we have a fire. I know it is the easy raod and doesn't have the same feel of real wood but it also doesn't have the mess.
