If you are looking for a way to explore the Northshore, be sure to experience the Tammany Trace, which is a paved walking or biking trail that allows you to admire the beautiful greenery and see all the little towns along the Trace. Along the trail, you will also see a parallel path for horses. The Tammany Trace is a 31-mile trail that begins in Covington and connects to Abita Springs, Mandeville, Lacombe and Slidell.
The Tammany Trace was once part of the Illinois Central Railroad, but all the rails have been converted to scenic trails. Mandeville’s Trailhead is located at 675 Lafitte Street which houses an amphitheater, picnic facilities and a splash fountain sprinkler system for children.
