Self Taught but it's for My Ears....
I truly do get a lot of pleasure from this thing. I bought this when the model first came out. Looking it up on this website, it looks like that was in 2002.. WOW.. it's been hanging out at my house for 16 years!
There have probably been months, at different times, when I didn't touch it and other times when I tried my best to wear it out.
After about 3 years of being super occupied with real estate and not having the time or calling for these keys, I've been caressing these keys again the past few months. It still plays and sounds just like it did when I first got it. Those black and white keys have helped me keep my peace when the world has come at me a little too fast. I can get lost in a moving hymn and it becomes just me and God. He seems very patient with my missed notes. I'm really kinda' surprised at the muscle memory that comes back to me as I run through my favorites.. I don't know that I bless Him with what I do, but it sure blesses me.
I learned to count time by writing on my sheet music and in my books, 1 te, 2 te..etc.. that probably won't make much sense to anyone else but it does me and like I said, it's for my ears... well for my ears and for God's ears.
My "go to" book is a book of hymns and gospel songs. It is getting pretty worn, the bottom of the sheets have become torn where the plastic binding rings keep the pages in place but it's got a lot of years left in it. I've purchased many of hymn and gospel books but this one is the one that stays on my keyboard. My light is a clip-on desk lamp.. I never could find one that would fit just right on the board so this one has served and will continue to do so! The sustain pedal has had a little duct tape keeping it together the past few years. I finally logged onto Amazon today and ordered a new one.
I've considered getting lessons at times but never have committed to that schedule. The left hand chords and the right hand plays melody and my mind and soul unwind. Everyone needs something to get lost in and this is my "get lost in" thing.
This and my Nikon are the things that work for me.. photography can do the same thing... taking photos of God's beautiful creation.
My clients end up with a better real estate agent due to my keyboard.. :)
Do you have a "get lost in" activity in your life? Hope it brings you peace.
