Moye Mercantile 1884 building Searcy Ar

Historic Searcy AR building for sale.

This building at 118 and 120 N Spruce in Searcy Arkansas has appeared as a newly listed for sale property.   It says the building was built 1n 1884!  That's a long time ago!  The information also says that it was once Moye Mercantile but it does not say what Moye Mercantile was.

Lots of pictures are given of the interior and they are quite interesting.  So, Searcy Sleuths, wake up, look at the pictures and give us some history about this building if you know things about it.  MLS # 18029055 and the property is listed by Tish Pace with RE/MAX Advantage.

I remember my grandfather Achel Boggs told me he worked there at some time. Likely just before or after WWII. I'd say before as he was car dealing after the war. He said it (Moye's) was a real trader's hub in Searcy.

Will, you don't see many pictures of this building so I was impressed to see it come through as a listing.  Thanks for finding and commenting on the blog!

Scotty, the building has surely seen lots of activity.  And it is still in use today!  I loved seeing the inside pictures and hope you got to see them.

I remember this building. My dad would deliver Pepsi-Cola to them. It was sort of a general store, like Robbins-Sanford but much smaller. Seems like at one time it was called Moye and Young. I believe they had livestock feed, also.

Harold Gene, thanks for this information.  Lots of information has been shared on facebook, where I also submitted this blog.  It is easier, I think, to comment there than on activerain.  About 600 people have visited the blog so lots of people share an interest in this old building.  Hope all is well with you!
