What's Love Got to do with It?
Sadly, both prices for housing and weddings continue to skyrocket in 2018. Research from Pew recently found that young, unmarried Americans, with the desire to someday marry, cite financial stability as the number one reason for holding off on marriage.
Younger generations are simply prioritizing life events in creative ways, based on their budgets and beliefs. Many millennial couples are moving away from the norm by co-buying a home with a significant other before walking down the aisle together.
As housing prices continue to climb and average down payments continue to increase, research has found that it would take the average single person over a decade to save for a home compared to four years for a couple.
For those still saving up, the majority of both singles and couple-respondents in the survey agreed that saving and buying a home can add more stress to a relationship than saving and planning for a wedding; 63% of singles and 59% of couples cited it as the bigger stressor.
Regardless, our younger Charlotte home buyers are savvy enough to realize that buying a home is definitely a better way to spend their hard-earned money than renting.
