What a Convention Can Do For Your Business
Last week was the Tennessee Realtors Convention in Knoxville, TN. There are many reasons to go to convention. They offer many things at the same time and there is no excuse to feel bored or that your time is being wasted. I go away feeling rewarded and enriched.
I have gone as a State Director before, but not this year. There were almost 20 of us from the Clarksville Association of Realtors. We palled up and had dinner together one night. This allows me to get to know those in my Association better so the next time we do deals, they will be even more enjoyable.
Next I am there to take advantage of the education offered. I had a couple of outstanding classes that were given by Kevin Buffini from Buffini & Co. and Crystal Washington of Houston Texas. Both of these instructors were lively and shared a ton of information. The classes earn continuing education hours which are nice to get. The keynote speaker was funny and inspiring. Who doesn't feel good having a good laugh?
Networking is also part of going to Convention. There are networking events and it is always fun to see people from other parts of the state. I get referrals from people I meet at these meetings.
There were legislative updates and state laws updates. I find this imperative for a managing broker to stay abreast of.
One agent came from our area that had never been to a convention of any kind before. She loved it. That was fun to see her excitement. Never have I felt like it was a waste of time or sorry I attended. They are affordable and the 3-hour drive was not that much out of the way.
Business travel is a tax deduction. It is just one way to reward and invest in yourself and your career. It give your attitude and business a shot in the arm.
