When I realized I wanted to get into real estate as a career I did not realize how freeing it would be. I say this from experience, I am the kind of person who likes freedom. I am not talking about being able to work 10 hours a week and spend the rest of the time in the Bahamas drinking Pina Coladas by the ocean. I am talking about financial freedom. Sales has taught me how to be 100% dependent on myself. I know that if I am a little light one month on cash, it is 100% my fault. I also find it relieving that I do not have to clock in, show up for 8 hours with a 1 hour lunch, and get a minimal paycheck every two weeks. For some reason giving up my potential for a large income to have a false sense of corporate security never appealed to me. And while I was a mere 11 years old in 2008, I saw what the corporate world did to those who had been at companies for 30+ years and that scared me to no end!
Sales relies on your ability to close and the better I get at closing the more money I make. I LOVE the feeling on not having a limited income and while I am no where close to where I want to be as an agent, it is the chase that keeps me going. I did not write this to brag I just want to know if others feel the same. Why choose a sales job over a paycheck? Are we really that crazy? Or do we just love the idea of self-accountability? I for one am a sucker for the chase and the thrill of a sale! Let me know what you think.
