There was something about this lonely bucket of teddy bear sunflowers at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market that caught my attention. I (A) always associate Vincent Van Gogh with the 12 sunflower series he painted: seven in Arles in the South of France, and five in Paris.
When Paul Gaughin (a stockbroker turned artist known for his primitive style) came to live with him in Arles, Van Gogh painted Paul's bedroom walls with sunflowers showing every phase of a sunflower from budding to whithering.
Paul Gaughin painted a portrait of Vincent Van Gogh in the act of painting sunflowers pictured above. He titled it, The Painter of Sunflowers.
Happy Sunday and we wish you a great week ahead!
