It's all about natural lighting...
Once the School Year starts and the deluge of back-to-school nights, volunteer requests, and homework begins, I know it won't be long until after work means DARK and a majority of my home showings will have to be during the day or on the weekend. Though it is possible to show a home in the dark, it's almost impossible for a buyer to make a decision on a home in the dark.
Looking forward to the fourth quarter and there are a lot of things planned for Hollish Hill Group and they definitely revolve around holidays.
Halloween - a spooktacular event
Halloween is by far my favorite holiday. Every other year, we throw a huge Halloween Party and invite our sphere and past and present clients to attend. This is a party year. This Spooktacular Event is something my entire family gets into - we love decorating the Hill House of Horror a little differently each year and we host the adults upstairs and the kids downstairs. We even hire a few baby sitters to watch the littlest goblins on a less scary floor.
Inside our home we set up a themed backdrop so each visitor is photographed in their costume. Costumes are definitely required. We serve fall weather food and drinks and fill the neighborhood with fog to add a little something to the mood.
After the party, we reach out and thank everyone for coming and send them a copy of their pictures. It is basically a social/client appreciation event. Everyone seems to have a good time.
Thanksgiving - giving thanks to our supporters
Thanksgiving is the time of year to reflect and show gratitude to those who have supported our business in the past. This year we will celebrate with a Pie Giveaway. We'll make contact with past clients and offer them a choice of an apple or pumpkin pie. It will be available for pick-up at our office the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. We'll throw a gratitude party at the office and greet our supporters and thank them for their ongoing support.
We may even offer them a special deal - If they whip up a referral by the time they pick up their pie, we'll throw in a free can of whipped cream.
Christmas - Photos with Santa
Not everyone celebrates Christmas so I've spent a bit more time on New Year's in the past. However, this year my office is going to host a Pictures with Santa event to encourage our clients to bring themselves, their kids or their pets into the office for a client appreciation and charitable donation event. Since this is my first time participating, I have no idea what type of response we'll get, but I'm looking forward to seeing the results.
New Years!
Each year in the months before and after the New Year, I typically hand deliver a New Year's gift to my past clients. Because I've helped clients in 9 counties, this can be a huge undertaking. The gift is something useful, often a tool of some kind. I've done tote bags, yard sticks, screwdrivers, hammers. Yes, it's Hollish Hill Group swag. Here is what I hand delivered last year.
These face-to-face visits are pricelesss. Sometimes it's hard to be there when they are home and eventually I have to leave them and follow up later, but the face to face time is the most important contact I make with past clients.
So there you have it. My entry for Lisa Von Domek's September Challenge. Let's touch base in the new year and see if these holiday challenges produced the desired results.
