We're In The People Business People... You Better Like People

It's No Big Surprise, but Real Estate is a "People Business"

People are everything. Our most important resource and asset.  If you want to be successful in Real Estate you need to improve your networking skills and build relationships.  This takes time, but is well worth it.

Building rapport and gaining respect will bring you business and long lasting relationships in your sphere of influence.  So many agents want to take the easy route, and purchase buyer or seller leads.  Long term that is not going to pay off, because you will always need to purchase leads because you haven't laid the ground work for a referral business.

Building relationships and trust will gain you more business in the long run, more referrals, and a pipeline of continuous business.  This is a much better route than just purchasing leads for a quick fix.

We are in the people business, so you better like people and start building relationships early on. This is a key component in building a successful Real Estate business.

It takes a team to get a transaction to the closing table.  The Real Estate agents, buyer, seller, lender, inspector, title company, and broker all need to work together to make it happen.  Learning how to get along with people and respect what they bring to the table will go a long way in building long term relationships with these people and bring referral business.

Always remember, that in Real Estate, people are our most important resource and asset.

I had an agent tell me recently that the only thing she did not like about real estate was the buyers and sellers.

It's important to remember that you do have to try to get along with everyone in this business, even the agents that play dirty, don't respond, yell at you, etc.

Vent to a family member or on AR but be careful about public remarks and naming names!

Hi Joyce... I'm all about building relationships but I've also noticed I only like building them with people I like.

Yes - all the people are important. The clients, of course, but also the rest of the team that must work together to get the transaction closed.

I do agree with Nina Hollander - when I really don't like someone, I don't care if I build a relationship or not. In fact, I'd rather not.

I well remember a lender who was nasty and another who was always "too busy" to return calls the same day. Neither lasted on our "team."
