In Order of Importance
1. Make Sure Your Have The Best Quality Server for Speed and Security.
Of all the many site audits I do on a daily basis. I see page loads speeds take over 3 seconds on average. You page needs to load fast, not just for user experience but for ranking high in the search engines like yahoo, bing and google.
2. Install Google Search Console
Make sure you have google search console installed so you can monitor any website errors and conflicts. The search console will give you insights on your ranking keywords.
3. Less is More
Keyword Cannabilization and posting content not related to real estate or your website theme will hurt you. Yes you need to update your site with fresh content, but be very careful. Write specific clear content as to not overlap and compete with yourself. I see this with every single agent website. Keyword cannibalization. They have 10 blog posts or pages on the same keyword query and we have to end up merging all the content into 1 post. Reduce your MLS feed and increase unique content on the landing page.
4. Quality & User Intent
Write quality content. Google and the search engines want quality markup on a landing page to satisfy the user intent. When you want to rank for a keyword query locally, type that search into google. See who is in the top 10 positions. Don't look at Zillow or Realtor.com. Many times local neighborhoods are where you want to rank for. Google page 1 is about parity. You will not be on page 1 by simply having 2000 words. Look what to actual query is and replicate. Make it a better experience and CRO. Tune your meta data, meta title, descriptions etc. Google knows which website and landing page has satisfied the user intent. Otherwise they kick them to the curb. I see it everyday.
5. Be Patient but Social
When you have a newer website it takes time to build up trust and authority in google. So don't freak out and make changes. Just add to the site. Don't keep blogging because everyone says so. Share quality content. Make sure you are branded on both Facebook, Twitter and the Like. Don't put all your effort just into your website. Go to where the buyer and sellers are too. Get on youtube, run some ads there. Do some postings in google my business as well.
