4th Quarter Marketing - The Icing on the Cake for this Year, The Flour for Next Year's Cake!
This is my entry for Lisa Von Domek's wonderful September challenge! I've been reading some fantastic entries and thought I would share how I wrap up the last quarter of the year.
Besides the normal post cards, emails, phone calls and social media marketing, the fourth quarter is probably my favorite time of the year for my business. Spring is a heavy selling season so, this last quarter, we get to SEE more of our sphere, which is made up of current & past clients. Regardless of the time of year, if we're doing something special, we like to do things that our clients enjoy, whether it be simply socializing or volunteering together for the Humane Society, the Metrolina Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, AdoptaPlatoon...
Here is how we 'celebrate' each of the final 3 months each year:
Each October we do something 'fun' with our clients, whether it be bowling, cooking, volunteering together or just having a little fall soirée. We change it up each year and sometimes we even have requests to do an event again - "next month" or "in the spring" - our clients are quite social and we all do have a wonderful time together.
This year's October event is a Welcome Fall event - guests are invited to meet us at a local brewery. This year, we partnered with one of our favorite local food trucks. We also do a 'give away' which is typically something related to the Carolina Panthers. This year, we have a fabulous gift basket to give one lucky winner and we share a photo of the basket with all of our guests. We're already getting questions, "What time is the give-away - should we be there early or late?!"
Here's the party invitation:
We have a lot of pet-lover clients and anything we can do that is pet-friendly is always well-attended!
November is a month that always brings thankfulness to mind. Each November, I put together a letter that is mailed out to all of my sphere - family, friends, past & current clients. This letter always elicits a tremendous response - lots of wonderful conversations follow my sphere receiving this letter in the mail! It's easy to write and of course, I always thank them for being them, being wonderful to work with and that I am so very thankful for having them in my business and personal life.
December is everyone's favorite month! Regardless of your religion, you're celebrating something spectacular and very personal to your faith. Because we have a faith-diverse group of clients, we enjoy hosting our "Winter Soirée" each year at my home. The focus? You guessed it - it's pet-related! We have a whole host of wonderful food and beverages and ask those in attendance to bring a blanket or some sort of bedding for our local Humane Society. Each year, we feature a 'winter' beverage. Last year's theme was comfort food with warm sangria. We have not yet voted on this year's spread or beverage yet!
We deliver tons of items to the shelter each year and everyone who attends is simply delighted to help. They always ask what date it will be held - usually at our October event they begin asking. We have our event on the calendar for the first week in December this year (typical). If invitees can't attend the soirée, they either drop by their blankets the week before the party or the week after. We typically have enough for two huge loads to donate.
Here is last year's invitation:
So, as the title suggests, our 4th Quarter Marketing is not only the icing on the cake for the 2018 business year, it's the flour (the base, the foundation) for our 2019 cake (year)! It's not too late to put your 4th quarter plan in motion...
