A Summer Harvest Treat - Drunken Peaches

Drunken Peaches are fried with a hint of whiskey.  Wonderful as a side dish, placed on top of vanilla ice cream, and used as a delightful dessert.

Our local Farmer’s Markets in the Greater Sacramento region have been filled with wonderful peaches this season.  It is difficult to pass by the vendor stands and not bring home bushels.

A few evenings I cooked up a quick treat I call “Drunken Peaches,” or “Tipsey Peaches.”  I don’t know what I was thinking, but they were gone before I snapped the picture.  But, I think the recipe is so simple that you will easily get the idea.

It’s always one of those things at my home, that if I cook it, they will come.  I shared with a couple neighbors, and they went home happy enough:-)

Directions –
In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter.  Add peaches, and cook for approximately 10 minutes, while stirring occasionally. Mix in the brown sugar, vanilla, and whiskey.  Simmer over medium heat for about 20 minutes, until peaches are soft and the sauce has darkened. Serve as a side dish or over ice cream.

Hi Roy... thanks for the reblog. MIssed this one and this is about the only way I'll eat peaches if they are not in a baked good.

This is interesting, Roy.  Thanks for re-blogging it.  I'm not sure if the peaches or I would get drunk with this dish.

Great reblog and I wish I had this when I had my 2 bushel of peaches from the western slope.  Will still try this.

I love peaches just with a little bit of salt but this sounds superior.

WOW, what a concoction!!  IF I could only get my wife to cook... ha.  Oh I'm going to get in trouble for that.

I LOVE peaches.  Glad that they are still being sold at the grocery store!

Overseas, we used to get the Delmonte canned version.  I would drink all the syrup in which they were packed.
