Do you want Full Service or want to Pump it yourself?
Scotts analogy of comparing ourselves to Full Service stations is perfect..
Go above and exceed your buyers and sellers expectations!
Do whats right. spend the time to help, your efforts will be remembered!
Thanks for such a great story Scott!
Not only am I talking about gas stations, but how it applies in Real Estate too. Yesterday as I drove around listing and selling homes, i needed gas. I pulled into a full service station. They are rare around here these days. The next thing i knew, one was pumping, while the other washed my window and asked to check my oil.
How in the world does this apply to Real Estate? Well, like gas stations, full service real estate is becoming rarer in this area. It is discount gas and discount service. Pay less but get less service.
How do the two relate? Well, also yesterday i met with a young couple. They bought a condo 2 years ago. Here they are 2 years later and now 2 kids later. They need more room. They bought their condo via a discount agent who rebated them money. The agent did not provide any type of service other than writing the offer. This was the first home they ever sold. They had called that discount agent to help them sell it. He listed it. Put it in MLS with 1 picture. There was no ads, no sign and no marketing. But they were saving a huge amount of money. BUT... the condo did not sell. They lost the new home they wanted.
Then came a networking event for new moms. This seller met some neighborhood mothers who were talking real estate. She was given my name by 3 different people she said. They gave me a call to meet them.
They gave me a tour of their condo. I knew the complex well and was able to answer all of their questions. They needed to sell because they need more space and need it yesterday. I told them what I offer when I list and sell a home. They were amazed. They never sold a home and really did not know what was normal, what they should expect or what was better than the other. I told them what price they should ask, what price offers may come in at and what i thought it would sell for. They were amazed, they were impressed and they hired me. The wife looked at her husband and said "I was full service just like the gas station."
The MOST IMPORTANT thing in real estate for me, is to provide great service. To stand out from the crowd by being there through each step of the buying or selling process. My message that I want to share in Real Estate, is that my philosophy is simple, to provide more personal and professional service to guide clients through each step of the buying or selling process. All Agents are not created equal and every buyer or seller should take the time to hire the BEST not just the biggest.
